This chapter offers some general observations based on the preceding history. By the end of fiscal year 2010, the ICSID Convention had 144 Contracting States. A total of 319 cases had been submitted to the Centre, 27 in 2010 alone. Of the 319 cases, 85 had been amicably settled or otherwise discontinued by the parties. Some 120 had given rise to awards.
